PHIO DIGITAL MSK SERVICE

Who can use Phio?

Any practice-registered patient who lives in Lanarkshire with a MSK condition can use Phio.
They must be aged 16 or over. Any patient who requires MSK physiotherapy assessment
and treatment is suitable for Phio.

Do patients have to use Phio before they see a Healthcare Professional?
No. Engaging with Phio is entirely the patient’s choice and it is not a prerequisite for a
Healthcare Professional appointment. While we are encouraging all practice staff to offer
Phio to patients, it is the patient’s choice whether they opt in or not.

Patients can be advised by your admin teams at the point of contact that Phio is available for
them to use while they wait for an appointment with a Healthcare Professional, or as an
alternative initial option 

How can patients access Phio?
Phio can be accessed for free, 24/7, on any device that has internet access.

Patients can access it by visiting the website or scanning the QR code on the
leaflets/posters/business cards provided by the GP team.

Phio will ask for the patient’s
name, D.O.B and name of their GP Practice.

Patients can use Phio as part of their physiotherapy treatment options during a
consultation if you feel it would be beneficial to them.

After their digital consultation on Phio Access, patients may be offered access to Phio
Engage. Access to Phio Engage will be arranged by the Phio team and a link will be sent to
the patient’s phone or email.

What are the benefits to patients from using Phio?
Phio provides support to the patient at any time of day, from any location, on any device with
internet access.

As it can be used 24/7, the use of Phio Access as a consultation tool will be quicker than
waiting to see a GP or other Healthcare Professional.

Phio also has in-app clinical support (Mon–Fri, 9am to 5pm) with a physiotherapist to help
patients, meaning they don’t need to wait to speak to their GP or other Healthcare
Professional if they have any questions or need advice.

Will Patients still be able to self-refer to the Physio MSK Service?
Yes, patients will still be able to self-refer via the existing online self-referral (or via paper
referral) and referrals via Sci Gateway will still be accepted.
